Aubade
The yellow daffodils
on the patterned Vera sheets
bunch up in the morning light
and scatter soundlessly
upon my wife asleep.
She is all pink
and wholly beautiful.
Nothing else remains
of the long night passed
but the memory’s feel
of her sure hands clasping mine,
bringing me to these flowers,
to this light.
